MEDEK Accreditation Application Process
In January 2024, the Vocational School of Social Sciences applied online to be included in MEDEK's accreditation processes at www.medek.org.tr with three associate degree programs, namely Health Institutions Management, Business Administration and Civil Air Transportation Management Programs.
Notification of Application Result
We were notified on February 8, 2024 that the 2024 MEDEK evaluation application for the three associate degree programs of our Vocational School of Social Sciences was accepted positively.
Online Information Meeting
The information meeting titled “Accreditation Process and MEDEK Criteria” was held remotely online by the MEDEK Board on February 20, 2024 for programs accepted for MEDEK Accreditation.
Program Information Meeting
Information about the accreditation process of the Health Institutions Management Program was given at the Academic Board Meeting held on January 18, 2024, attended by the program faculty members. Some information about MEDEK was given at the meeting, and discussions were held on basic accreditation criteria and related procedures. Decisions were made regarding the establishment of the MEDEK Accreditation Commission.
Establishment of MEDEK Accreditation Commission and Consultation Meeting
The Health Institutions Management Program MEDEK Accreditation Commission was established on February 20, 2024 and began work to conduct research. On March 25, 2024, the commission members came together and made draft decisions to ask stakeholders for their opinions on the program mission, vision, educational objectives, program outcomes and educational plan. At the same meeting, opinions were received from the Unit Advisory Board to determine the independent Program Advisory Board Members.
Delivery of Accreditation Agreements to MEDEK
The contracts were signed by the Vocational School Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rıdvan KARABULUT and uploaded to the system on March 4, 2024. In addition, the signed contracts were sent to MEDEK via cargo in two (2) copies.
External Stakeholder Interviews
The Program Advisory Board was established with the determination of the members on April 2, 2024. On April 5, 2024, the Program Advisory Board Members and on April 15, 2024, our graduate students came together and were informed about the MEDEK Accreditation process. Under the presidency of the Department of Management and Organization Head Dr. Lecturer Merve Ünlü Aslan (the department head changed to Lecturer Dr. Nagihan Kantarcı on August 9, 2024), all department academic staff participated. Opinions were received for the program mission, vision, education plan, outcomes and educational objectives. In addition, feedback was received on the compatibility of the determined objectives with the university's core duties, the level at which the objectives were achieved and the suggestions regarding the measurement and evaluation system regarding this, and the improvements that could be made. Internal Stakeholder Interviews
Meetings were held with our internal stakeholders, the students of the Healthcare Institutions Management Program (second year on April 3, 2024, first year on April 4, 2024). Information was provided regarding the MEDEK Accreditation process. All academic staff of our program participated in the meetings. Determination of Program Mission, Vision, Educational Objectives and Goals
Based on the feedback received from stakeholders, the final version of the program mission, vision, educational goals, objectives and performance indicators were decided on April 17, 2024 and shared with the public.
Revision of Education Plans
With the feedback received from the stakeholders, the education plan was revised on April 17, 2024, and a curriculum was prepared in accordance with the Bologna process, our University's European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) Application and Elective Courses Directives and MEDEK Accreditation criteria, and the first graduates in line with the new education plan will be given in June 2025.
Submission of Self-Assessment Report to MEDEK
The self-assessment report prepared by the member academic staff of the MEDEK Accreditation Commission was finalized on June 3, 2024 and submitted to MEDEK online at portal.medek.org.tr on June 14, 2024.
Peer Review
With the coordination of Kayseri University Quality and Strategy Development Application and Research Center, on November 8, 2024, our University Tomarza Vocational School Building Inspection Department academic staff evaluated our program by taking the Institutional Internal Evaluation Report (KİDR) Preparation Guide Version 3.2 as reference. In the "RP-027 Peer Evaluation Report", rubric evaluation was made and areas open to development were reported to us. On November 11, 2024, a meeting was held to eliminate these deficiencies and improvements were made.
Field Visit
A field visit will be conducted by MEDEK Accreditation Assessors to evaluate our program on December 2-4, 2024.
